City

In my project "City" I explore the metropolises of our pre pandemic world. The City I capture is based on my personal experience of living a cosmopolitan life in the pre pandemic world. I am not looking for unique (or even decisive) Moments, but I look for the things that connect these cities or even make them interchangeable. In the deeply interconnected pre pandemic world of 2017 - 2019 it seemed more and more like we lived in a global "City". I document this generic City with a flood of images, which can be broken down into different categories: MegaCityscapes, Pre-Suburbia, Brands, Pieces, Inverted Contexts to name a few. This is a very personal snapshot of my own view and experience in a pre pandemic world. A snapshot that, at that time, almost seemed mundane but now can be seen as an artefact of a different age. The images often do not show people, or if they do they are mostly a part of the overall scenario. This stressed the interchangeability of urban space in the "City". For the same reason the photos are often composed fast, almost as if by accident, so that perfection does not distort the impression of reality.
